My Experience with as a Teacher

Pros

Strong culture and values. Good staff training programs. Good staff benefits.

Cons

Heavy workload. Lots of take-home paperwork because you are not supposed to do these during "curriculum hours" in school. Irregular planning time. No proper lunch break as most days taken up by meetings or stay-in to oversee classes during naptime. Have to make own arrangements for work schedule or relief teacher if taking urgent leave or MC, which is highly stressful in my opinion.

Better staff benefits and attractive salary

Pros

Prior to joining NTUC First Campus, I used to work in another childcare and kindergarten. I would say that NFC provides better staff benefits and the salary is rather attractive and competitive. I am also glad that the organisation is supportive in developing staff professional growth. With this, I am grateful to be part of this culture as I have learnt a lot.

Cons

Having to manage a class of children with different behaviour as sometimes we are unable to give equal attention to each children at one time.

Learning culture in NTUC First Campus

Pros

Comparing my working experience in small and large preschool operators with NTUC First Campus, the latter has clear work structure, supportive culture, learning and development opportunities, good staff welfare and constant updates to the curriculum.

Cons

Having to balance centre operations and adapting to the changes in curriculum. With the large staff strength and layout of the centre, I need to find time to mentor my staff and ensure there is professional development.
