Pros

Stockroom staff morale was high, everybody got along was friendly which helped get through the day. Management always made sure we had break hour, staff discount was good. Lots of cons but was all down to management, also our store was bigger than any other I've seen and it was only recently opened.

Cons

The stockroom staff are treated like cattle by management. 'Targets' set for everybody (Green for fast scanning/sorting, orange for slow, red for behind on our stock sorting)... EVERYBODY with no exceptions were always in red for slow, when we were working extremely fast in a hot stockroom with no windows... the speed we were told to go at was impossible. If ever called in sick, got told 'tough' by management and to come in anyway. Then shouted at for not working fast enough. Stockroom was either boiling hot or freezing cold with no in between, the lights didn't work where we had to hang clothes up ladders 12ft in the air so was pitch black half the stockroom. Not enough scanners for all the stockroom staff so was constant arguing over them. Hallways, stockrooms were not organised so never had any idea where to put anything. Working on shop floor was more fun but sometimes management would tell you to work in stockroom instead as they're always desperate for staff. Was always always kept behind at LEAST 1 hour after every shift to get shop ready for next day, was not allowed to leave until everything done when management do not complete their tasks. Was often called morning of shifts to come in earlier. The work and the staff are nice, all the cons are just management.

Cons

It's a terrible company to work for. They do not treat the staff very well. The pay is absolutely ridiculous. They try to cost save on every little detail. Terrible progression roots. Terrible training package. Unrealistic expectations from area managers. Work and life balance? If you can't dedicate 50 hours a week they want rid.

Pros

A handful of genuinely supportive colleagues who try to uplift each other despite the environment. Opportunities to develop resilience and adaptability simply because the conditions require it.

Cons

The culture is overwhelmingly toxic, and the impact on wellbeing is significant. Pressurised workloads are treated as standard, with little acknowledgement of capacity. Boundaries are routinely pushed. Micromanagement is embedded at every level, but particularly within my immediate leadership. Tasks are monitored excessively, autonomy is discouraged, and decisions are questioned even after alignment has been agreed. This creates a constant sense of pressure, second-guessing and self-doubt. I’ve worked with many different managers in my career, and unfortunately this has been the worst management experience I’ve had. Concerns are dismissed or reframed in ways that make you doubt your own perception, behaviour that comes across as gaslighting. Communication often feels controlling rather than collaborative, and feedback is met with defensiveness rather than support. Team morale is low as a result. People are burnt out, disengaged, and fearful of speaking openly. High turnover has only worsened the workload and pressure on those who remain.
