Incompetence and Confusion

Pros

20% discount... though kinda pointless when the markup is about 300% Flexible hours you get to see the new shoes and clothes before the customers.

Cons

omg too many to list. Loss prevention treats employees like thieves from the beginning of employment and aren't even subtle about it. The company expects you to be so focused on customer service but offers no commission on sales. They tell you to focus ONLY on customers so they can make money, then get angry and wanna send memos and emails when jobs (stock, freight, organizing, cleaning the floor) isn't done in a timely fashion. Management is lazy, and on the store level there is NO ONE to watch management so they basically do whatever they want. (personal calls, laying down behind registers, watching tv in the office) Associates expected to play the role of cashier, sales associate, security, customer service, stock and EVERYTHING else while only receiving an associates pay which is only aroun 7 bucks an hour. Management stays making personal phone calls during store hours.

Pros

You get a nice discount and some flexibilty depending on your manager. Department managers usually have a nice schedule. All hourly employees are union.

Cons

It's retail so it definetly sucks hour wise. Salaried managers who want to move up in the company have to work like dogs which is hard if you have a family and a life. The new regime of leaders seem to want to take the company in a very modern direction which is both good and bad.
