Pros

Manager Ray was a good person. He was the first person to hire me for this job. He understood me but later he ended up quitting his job. This was my very first job.

Cons

The head manager of the dept. disliked me. I never could find out the reason why. He would joke around and talk to others but never smiled at me. Also, my coworkers would get mad at me whenever I asked them questions as a new worker. I worked there from May 2017-Aug 2017 during my holidays. When my school started I had the opportunity to work for 3 days only, but they told me I could join again after my school's out again. Though I used to be free all day during my holidays, they only assigned me to work just for 2 - 3 days a week. I trusted them and they never called me again. Neither did I quit, nor did they terminate me. They had no reason to do this to me. I wasn't happy working there because nobody encouraged me. Nobody smiled at me either. Bad experience.

Pros

You get to meet many different types of people from a variety of backgrounds. The atmosphere is built by the leadership of the store. A lot of employees put their heart and soul into doing their work.

Cons

-Holiday hours do not exist. Most often they are the same as regular store hours. -Constant cutting of payroll and hours even if store is up in sales. Probably to offset minimum wage increase in NY. And didn't even increase payroll when managers had to get paid for overtime. Funny how when they had to pay all of a sudden managers had to work a straight 40 hours even though the workload didn't change. When they were salary it was expected to stay to get the job done or come in on their days off. Of course they will never admit it -Unrealistic hours to cover store. Someone goes on vacation and that person's hours cannot be replaced even though the staffing is already under minimum coverage. This gives shoplifters easy access to stealing because people are pulled off the floor to ring at the registers. Even see the managers having to ring. This should be a job for an hourly employee not manager. -If you get a bad customer review they will never admit to cutting the hours reducing the people available to help customers as an issue. -Behind in technology. All other businesses have the chip reader while they still have the old swipe system. - Always getting pulled to cover other stores but when your store needs the favor returned, there isn't anyone to help. -Sales plans are always increased with payroll hours always being decreased -Don't understand how they can open new stores but not have money to fix up current stores. -Why ask if there are any other employees to ring at the registers when you already know you cut the payroll????? -Have seen some really incompetent managers get paid more for knowing and doing less. -Some managers are not held to the same standards as others.
