Pros

(1) First dibs on cute products. (2) Back storage room great for talking smack about the company.

Cons

Miniso seems like a lovely place to work at, but that is just so unbelievably untrue. If you don't take the job salary, (they inflate the pay to bait you but the amount of work they expect you to do is not worth it at all) you are treated like trash. They also play mind games to hypnotize you into staying or to accept their promotion (hourly wage to salary wage). Once you take their offer, you are a MiniSlave in Miniso. If you're really unlucky, the higher management will specifically create problems and expect you to resolve them. They micromanage to the maximum and focus on tasks that aren't even important (ex. fixing price tags too far left from the product). They will come in the store with a facade, saying things like "the store looks pretty good" and compliment the store managers/team leaders to make them feel special. After the visit, they will write a nasty email on how awful their visit was; and not only send it to your store, but would also send it to other stores??? My guess is that they don't know how to work Microsoft outlook properly because that is so incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. A major problem at this company is management. They hire people that have connections to Miniso and not hire people that are qualified. (edit: this is going to be a long list below lol.) Human Resource (HR) team don't care about the stores. They will send any item even if you specifically request not to. You absolutely cannot send the items back to HR because they always reply with "the warehouse is full". The most you can do is transfer between stores, but certain items just don't sell. What happens then? The overstock items piles up in the backroom until you can't even close the door. Once higher management comes to visit, they blame you for not doing your job (not maintaining the backroom, but it gets too full of the crappy items). Most of the associates/team leaders have grown tired of this and stopped caring for their job. Higher management is disrespect and unreasonable, why should we, as workers, reciprocate it? There is a store manager and higher management group chat and you are expected to reply instantly. It doesn't matter if you are sleeping or living your daily life ON YOUR DAY OFF, you are still required to be active on the chat. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but higher management express extreme levels of passive aggressiveness. Most people grows out of the immature phase of beating around the bush, but not Miniso.

Pros

-Fun to work with the store team. -You get promotion quick as all experienced external hires see through their none-sense and quit. You may get hired as part time but get promoted to assistant manager within few weeks or month because you work hard and do your job.

Cons

-Low salary but upper management thinks they have offered way more than other company would of offered. -"Opportunity" is what they will tell you to lure you in and you will regretted and realized you have made a huge mistake the moment you start working for them. -“We are a brand new starting up company" is the answer for every questions/ concerns you have and expect you to simply put your faith in their empty promise. What they failed to understand is that there are lots of starting up company who has benefits and procedure in place before hiring but they are not one of them. -No bonus structure. -No work/ life balance. Upper management expect you to work overtime without any sort of compensation in place and shows no appreciation when you do. They may also message you for last minute meeting or decisions changes on group chat at late night and expected you to read and respond. -Employment contract seems poorly constructed and not legitimate. -No statute holiday paid nor day off compensation for salary based co-worker. -No respect from the upper management. -Upper management does not communicated well and unorganized.

Pros

The colleagues make day-to-day bearable.

Cons

I would give it a negative star if I could. Unethical and discriminatory business practices are laced in every decision they make. Paying vendors? expect it next year. Paying for IP licenses? Milk everything for what it's worth and deal with the aftermath later. If you are not a Chinese native that's between the ages of 20-35 forget about applying. They openly voice that Mexicans are lazy, black people are dangerous, and Americans are hard to control. Their mentality is modern-day slavery. It's not safe to voice your opinion or thoughts you are simply a worker. Expect to do all of your manager's work including your own and don't expect any credit for your time and efforts. Don't expect support or guidance, it's your job to figure it out. You can google it or ChatGPT it. Managers are just for show and play video games on their phones hiding out in the conference rooms and watching Netflix at their desks.
