Pros

- good work/life balance - inclusive international environment - office in the centre

Cons

- instead of code quality, empty corporate slogans - astounding inertia, every desk and every conference expense has to be personally approved by someone at every level from your manager to CTO; forget about any changes to the way things work - they make a lot of fuss about having become agile but in reality it's just a bunch of rituals and managers being called scrum masters - the project I worked on was turned from an exciting novelty into absurdly bloated spaghetti code with little business perspective because people with good ideas aren't being listened to

Thanks for the feedback and we hear you. The Warsaw Technology team is new, and this year has been an opportunity for trials and errors, leading to lessons learned to improve the way we work and set expectations for the team. Being agile is a reality of our environment and sometimes causes shifting priorities and adjusting the direction of projects to meet technical requirements and customer needs. We’re one of the first to say that our structure is a little hierarchical, but with good intentions to ensure we’re following protocol and being fiscally responsible. Regardless, we have trust in our committed Warsaw Technology team members, and are thrilled with their hard work and dedication given to the recent MicroStrategy 2019 release. We hope next year will be another year of learning to improve our product and the way we work together. Your feedback helps move us in the right direction.

Pros

Nice localization in center of Warsaw and very close to metro station.

Cons

If you are a person who wants to develop, extend knowledge and skills -- avoid this place. You would be bring down to role of 'code typing machine'. During interview I was informed about technology stack I am going to use. At my first day I found out it is going to be completely different, but that's minor case. No senior, experienced developer support. No decision making locally, everything depends on few ppl in HQ, even something fiddling like buying coffee. Quarterly bonus is a joke -- looks like HQ isn't aware of software developer market in Warsaw. You got promoted for work seniority - not for skills, knowledge etc (it is very common to promote 6 months experienced developer rather than one with almost 2 years experience, only because the first one works for micro for longer period but on different -- non-developer -- occupation. HQ claims, teams have no contribution in project only because whole work/code was developed in Warsaw. Micro does not pay attention to clean code, good practices, up to date technologies. Testing is a word that is unknown at HQ, and those who want to implement are neglected. TDD, DDD, SOLID -- no one heard about it

Our Center in Warsaw is a relatively new, growing, and important part of where we are going as a business. The experience you describe here is not consistent with the expectations we have for our technology team in Warsaw. As we come to the end of the first year of our experience having Technology teams in our Warsaw center, we do have many lessons learned in how to form our core teams, how to coordinate the work done in Warsaw with our teams in Tysons Corner (HQ) and China, and putting great responsibility on our Warsaw team as we continue to grow our Tech presence there. In recent months, we have increased our focus on hiring testing and QA resources and will continue that focus for the foreseeable future. We have made changes in how we are managing our Warsaw Technology team and the connectivity our team has with the rest of our employee base in Warsaw that heavily focuses on Technical Support and Consulting as well as our HQ technology teams. Our broader technology team is about to rollout our latest platform release which features the strongest code and product enhancements in the history of the company - and represents a collective effort between HQ, Warsaw, and China product teams. We are an organization constantly learning and improving. From what I have read, your experience with us is not what we would have hoped for anyone. We will continue to work on making MicroStrategy the best employer for software engineers, testers, consultants, and all of the other professionals that call MicroStrategy their place of work around the world.
