Pros

None. Do not apply here.

Cons

Chaotic, disorganized and unprofessional Management within the DSSI group in MetLife. Other groups are ok and might even be good. Please stay away from any job postings in DSSI. Quality of projects is bad. You will waste your technical skills if you apply here. Management does not care and does not meet with direct reports. Goals and objectives have not been communicated to direct reports over 3 years ago. Performance review meetings are not held.

Cons

Highly Bureaucratic environment Paper pushers - always some policy is enforced..looks like a prison Lame PTO policy. You literally cannot afford to fall sick (you earn 1 hr for a week). Office environment is highly noisy (I recorded decibels on a average day and it was around 65-68 db) - so imagine constantly monitored Weekly recurring one on one's, which is used for statuses on top of the status meetings - LMAO Unhappy environment - generally people are not willing to talk to each other and be friendly they are always seem to be lost and feel irritated Management wanted a modern open office (so that they can look over shoulders - ha ahaha) and they say it is strategy to maximizing sqft . They are literally scamming NC govt, they said they are creating jobs, but they moved people from other branches and asked them to reapply by creating positions (which NC residents can be entitled to but they are denied , so incase you were wondering why they did not respond to your application ) - just to account for number count for the NC govt - LMAO Zero work life balance, if you are going to be sick ..please plan on a PTO and let your manager know - ROFTL & LMAO Another lame policy - If you are going to have a dr appointment , please schedule after work hours or get a PTO Now you decide is this the place you want to work for rest of your life ? I pitty those people who don't have a choice.

Pros

Good pay and benefits. Shiny new building. A number of passionate employees who take time out of their busy schedules to try to foster a team environment.

Cons

Some managers, particularly at the VP level, are so concerned about pleasing those above them that they are tremendously disconnected from what is going on underneath them. They make snap judgment calls with limited information gathered from a few of their loyal foot soldiers. This leads to poor decision making and a highly politicized environment. New employees into the company have not been integrated For me personally I've never worked for a company so disorganized. The workloads were so inconsistent from employee to employee yet no one ever bothered to consider reorganizing this leaving some employees stressed and others twiddling their thumbs all day. Meetings were plentiful but little was accomplished. Communication was inconsistent and in some cases discouraged. Some people were in the loop and always knew what was going on while others would find out about key changes affecting them secondhand. In my entire time at Met there rarely any discussion of career path. When I brought up my concerns about the future the question was always deflected to focus on the short term. I had reach out to people outside my department for guidance and to find anyone other than some colleagues who actually seemed to give a damn about my personal growth and development. While not all at Met are probably as dissatisfied as I was, nothing I've said is an exaggeration of my experience. I left work most days feeling more disillusioned and confused than the previous day. At orientation they made Met seemed like this great dynamic company to work for. They say that "People matter" but it became apparent that only a select group of predetermined people matter. These people could blatantly act in ways that directly went against company core values (ex. curse out other employees in public) whereas everyone else was expected to be model citizens. If anyone is reading this and considering joining MetLife I would say don't join unless you're someone very adept at making political allies within the company. If you don't have those allies you'll likely get lost in the shuffle as I did.
