Pros

I have a great deal of flexibility in my position and this helps me balance my work and family life. I currently have the ability to work from home at times. I can also change my hours to attend to personal matters. With this flexibility I provide Merck with many extra hours. Most times I check emails and work at night and on weekends. I appreciate all the flexibility I am given. It's a win for everyone.

Cons

The compensation plan is no longer working. Our compensation plan provides stock options for those with a high performance. The stock price has been decreasing over the years and stock options have not been above water in years. Merck needs to rethink how the put a compensation package together.

Pros

Excellent company. Good work culture. Outstanding benefits. The pipeline is quite strong, and appropriate resources are gien to priority projects. For the most part, those making important decisions know the industry and marketplace very well and are able to make appropriate developmental decisions.

Cons

HR tends to value potential new employees over those with a proven track record. Getting promoted seems to be more difficult than it should be. It should not be the case that people have to go elsewhere to move ahead, rather than being able to move up in a place where you have already shown competence.

Pros

its in NJ. if you are based in NJ, it's an option.

Cons

poor decisions have hurt the reputation of the company- both prior to Hassan joining and initiating the 'turnaround', and after the 'turnaround'. The turnaround was successful, and placed an emphasis on ethical behavior- yet recent alleged events in Senior Mgmt undermined this mission. I have never seen such bad luck, combined with lack of decision-making or poor decisions, affect a company so lastingly. Morale is low, job cuts are occurring, I would be surprised if the company is still around in 5 years.
