Pros

Decent brand reputation in HR consulting space although not a household known name; a lot of intelligent young people recruited from top schools

Cons

Lots of leadership changes - CEO (BTW, please update CEO's name if Mercer HR is reading this), CFO, regional presidents, GBS leaders all within last 18 months. The EL team is like a revolving door. Be advised that they laid off a huge number of partner level employees a few months ago. Company is selling profitable businesses to get much needed cash. This is a very political place, especially at very senior level. people back stabbing each other all the time. very outdated technology, with many failed innovation attempts. POC never moved to pilot stages because there is no robust development capabilities; overall culture is toxic with many people just pretend to be busy.

Mercer colleague, Thank you for the feedback. We are disappointed to hear about the experience you had while at Mercer. The pace of change is faster than ever before so, like in many other companies, we strive to provide both stability for all of our colleagues while adapting to an environment that is ever-evolving, innovative and focused on the future of work. All of that involves a lot of changes and we understand how efficiency changes over the years can be challenging. Pros

Working at Mercer allowed me to meet and work with some of the smartest people I have met. Colleagues consistently impressed me with their innovative solutions and support.

Cons

While Mercer provides cutting-edge advice to clients, leadership did not follow the same advice. The way they manage and pay their people is inconsistent with what they would tell their clients to do.

Former colleague: Thank you for both your long tenure with Mercer and for taking the time to share your thoughts on your experience. We know one of the things Mercer colleagues value the most is the deep expertise and experience of our people. We are glad to hear you experienced that during your time at Mercer. Your advice to management makes a lot of sense and is aligned with where we are focused. We know our people are our best asset and we are continuously working to create opportunities for two-way dialogue with colleagues to understand what is most important to them and respond. Thank you again for your candid feedback.

Pros

It's good work experience for your resume, if you moved out of the call center or never worked in the call center. I also made some of my best friends working here.

Cons

- Your pay is a joke unless you are hired from outside of the company. I was underpaid $10k from moving up in the company, compared to an analyst that came from outside of the company. There are thousands of other companies willing to pay you he average salary for being an analyst. - Management is a DISASTER. None of them seem to know how to manage people or have the people skills needed to be in their position. - Training is not what it used to be when I started. They cut the training for the call center from 4 weeks to 2 weeks. Mercer is not known for having a good call center anymore due to lack of training. - Hours are ridiculous, so be prepared to work more than 40 hours a week. I worked a 2 analyst job for 2 years while working around 50 hours a week. The director refused to hire another analyst. - You will also get severe health issues if you don't look out for yourself. I know at least 20 people that had surgeries or leaves due to the work environment. This place does not care about their employees well being but they will try to make you think they do at first.
