Pros

Flexible work schedules and some nice people to work with.

Cons

Minimal raises given each year and always the same story of why when the company has met budget. Took away layers of management and the entire organization is in chaos now. Just when you think it can't get worse, it does. Top leadership is out of touch with company and does not care about people. Used to be a people company, but no longer. Layoffs every November really keeps morale low.

Pros

The manager of the location as a whole was very good at their job and very friendly. Nice atmosphere and some co-workers were nice. Decent benefits.

Cons

Promotions and raises are completely based on a popularity contest. I personally had a manager admit to me that I was more likely to be laid off than people they would "prefer to lay off" because the preferred people were "black" and "asian." The worst part? This wasn't even the manager of our group any more, they were telling our NEW manager who to fire! For years in a row I was given exceptionally high performance reviews but NO raises. The company's excuse: they didn't have the money to give us raises because they spent too much on client meetings. I worked countless hours of free overtime because I legitimately had too much work to get done in the day and the team I was on was prohibited to do any overtime, yet there were people in some positions who were getting thousands of dollars of overtime each paycheck (by intentionally taking their time with their work). No reward whatsoever for actually working hard and doing your job. Constant quarrels, gossip, backstabbing, drama, etc. created an unnecessarily stressful work environment. So glad I left, I haven't looked back since.

Pros

- The 3 or 4 managers I had in my time at Mercer were all fantastic - Flexible with work life balance and hours - Good opportunities - Clear goals and targets - Support available if you ever need it - Good rewards and recognition

Cons

- Hard to get a decent pay rise without leaving the company and coming back - Too much of remuneration was down to a bonus pool which would always change at the review time - Departments can feel siloed - Can feel political at times - Large amounts of mandatory training companywide that was irrelevant to your job role/duties
