(If it matters in how you may read the points below please note that I'm leaving the company in 3 weeks)
- No career growth: Being good is not rewarded. You won't be promoted faster than the rest and won't get any kind of compensation for going above and beyond. You'll just be staffed on more accounts and have to deal with more complex programs requiring evening and weekend work. You'll be told it will pay off but it won't. Important to add I'm not just a delusional bitter underperformer as I've been categorised as "exceeding expectations" in all the performance reviews I can remember of.
If you really decide to join Medallia, my personnal advice is to be mediocre. Your career growth will be equally slow but at least your workload will be lighter. Ironic for a company that was once proud to have "Punch mediocrity in the face" as a slogan.
- Dysfunctional organization: Expect at least one re-org a year, with also a new head of Professional Services each year (6 PS leaders in the past 6 years). If that sounds healthy just go for it and sign up.
- Uncompetitive total compensation: No bonus, no 401K matching. Equity is given but more or less worthless. Even in the case of a financial event you will be better off financially by taking an offer in a company with a bonus, better perspectives or simply higher salary growth. It's not hard.
- Down-trend momentum: A lot of attrition in the past 6 months. Everyone is either getting tired of the same gimmicks being said over time, the complete lack of actions on employee feedback or simply don't want to be working at a company that looks more and more like Oracle (but without any of the few advantages Oracle has).
- Inadequate management: Just read through other reviews in here. I think it's clear.
- Bare bone perks: This one is trickier as it's hard not to be seen as entitled when complaining about it. The reality is tech is a competitive industry and if you have the skills to be hired at Medallia you can also be hired in a company that will provide better perks and a better environment to work in. Used to be a strength of Medallia, don't be fooled, it's not one anymore.
The company could have a lot of pros but is at the moment in a sluggish momentum. If you are really interested maybe wait for a bit then check glassdoor again to see if things have moved in the right direction. I'd suggest to avoid for the time being.
