Pros

A friendly group of people within the IT department. Disney park passes and discounts off Disney merchandise. A profitable company so there's no shortage of work.

Cons

Unfortunately, the company no longer offers perks such as stock options or a decent medical plan. The office is crowded, they offer no amenities like free coffee or water and there aren't enough stalls in the bathrooms during bathroom rush hour. The management doesn't promote internal career development and quickly hires externally. Compensation is low for this industry, especially for such a successful company and getting a promotion is very difficult. People stay because the work is steady but they are very displeased with the type of work and the lack of growth. There are too many managers and not enough developers to do all of the work. If you speak up, it isn't received with a positive view. If you're looking for a place where you can gain solid software development skills, this is not the place. The type of work that's available is more along the lines of application programming and not enterprise application development.

Pros

Marvel is a brand that basically speaks for itself so if you spin it the right way it could be great on your resumé. If you're a fanboy and/or overweight...you'll fit right in.

Cons

Honestly? The place is a joke. You'd expect Marvel to have a cool office full of creative types always looking to push the boundaries and keep the brand on the cutting edge but that couldn't be further from the truth. It looks like an insurance company on the inside...from the 80's. It's a place where creativity is stifled and the latest innovation I bore witness to was when the mailroom guys finally got the laser pointer and register(like at the grocery store) to scan product at the company sale. You had to fill out a paper form before. There's really NOT MUCH going on within the company except for the films and they are made in Hollywood, so don't expect to work on anything worth telling your next employer. Without the movies and Disney they'd likely be closing their doors...wait never mind, that happened already.

Pros

Work with the vast library of Marvel characters. Disney perks and benefits. Some great people. Employee sales knock up to 80% off licensee samples. As part of the right teams you can attend multiple conventions if that's a thing still. Office hours can be somewhat flexible depending on your boss. Honestly if it wasn't for the Disney element it can be a very disappointing place to work, however the name Marvel goes a long way on the resume.

Cons

No access to the comics. They really don't care if you know anything about the characters or what they publish. Marvel Entertainment isn't Marvel Studios, so don't expect to work/play in that neighborhood. If you do get to work with Studios characters don't expect to do it without MASSIVE oversight. No company card. Expect to buy things yourself and then wait to be reimbursed. They don't like to provide office supplies and if you do need some and request then they will give you samples from licensees (limited quantities). Actively avoids giving credit to employees out of fear of unions. Just recently started caring about Diversity and Inclusion due to the very vocal employee minority. Human Resources is there to protect the senior level members.
