Pros

Sadly there are literally none.

Cons

The worst retailer I've worked for. I've worked in 3 different locations, 1 in a different state, and the overall company culture is beyond toxic. The company consists of the typical retail stereotypes, i.e, management that has no clue what they're doing with a lot of ego to go around, strong high-school mentality among workers, non-flexible schedules, no work-life balance, daily threats to your job, customers leave something to the imagination. The basics. I was a coordinator 7 out of the 9 years I've been with this company and stepped down because of a manager they hired who caused 54 employees to quit within the first few months she was here. I stepped down back to part-time because my hair was falling out at an alarming rate and I started to take my work home which caused turbulence in my relationship. It came to a point where I was just constantly angry. The pay is not worth the amount of grief you are given and it's definitely not worth your personal health. Benefits decrease in quality each year as well. They keep cutting the benefits but yet hike up the rates. Pay raises are laughable, $0.35 - per year at the most, even at a good performance score. Etc. With the amount of years I've been here I could write a Gothic novel about this organization - thank god I graduate this year.

Pros

It's not boring...no day is the same. You will learn a lot. You get to developed great relationships with your employees...they often become family. Great open door policy as well. The best company to get cross-trained in all aspects of retail (current structure at least). Great benefits! I say be a sponge and absorb! Time passes quickly because it's always something to do (but as management we are encouraged not to task but manage. This is hard when we see things that need to done and ...(I'll just put that in the cons)

Cons

You work 50 hours per week or more. (You are scheduled 50 hours per management contract) Regional staff has no concern abt your personal time. They will pop up and expect you to stay while they are there...even if your already at your 10th hour. Payroll is a challange compared to what they expect to be accomplished in a store. This is connected to the above mention pertaining managers not talking. We feel compelled to task sometimes....specially those whi have been in the company for a while, like me. We Often feel trapped once you get in upper management, specially if you lack a degree. You make a good amount of money, but unless you want to remain in retail, it's hard to walk into another company making the same salary. There is always a push to become a store manager, but if that's not your goal, it can be an issue. (Petty addition...we need a better discount! )

Pros

Marshalls is a fortune 500 Company, from the TJX Company. Being a part of a chain, you also have sister stores, such as TJ Maxx, Homegoods, and Sierra Trading Post. This gives you tons of opportunities to grow and have guaranteed employment. This company provides opportunity for fast advancement and growth. Once you are full time, marshalls provides full time benefits, medical, dental, and vision, along with vacation and sick hours, and a 401k plan. You can choose how much you want taken out of your checks, and the company will actually match your amount for your 401k. If you are experienced in retail/sales and are looking for opportunities for growth. this is a great company to work for.

Cons

Depending on the area (region) you are working in, this job can be a little stressful. Sometimes management is always the most professional, or easy to work with. While enjoying the job in itself, the employees can make it a difficult workplace. If you want to work for this company, I would recommend you have a lot of patience and strength to overcome all obstacles.
