Pros

Great benefits. Great people. Fantastic place to start a career.

Cons

Limited accountability. Toxic workplace. Minimal room for growth. Uneven management. Siloed departments and groups. Depending on where you work, pay is limited. Lots of red tape. Hard to make changes. Everything moves at a glacial pace. No prioritization. No (consistent or upheld) standards. Long-term learning/growth/earning potential are capped if you stay too long. Get out before you get too comfortable and realize you're boxed into the role you've got and there is no escape hatch.

However, one drawback of working at MIT can be the relatively lower salaries compared to some other institutions, which can be a concern for some employees, particularly in a high-cost area like Cambridge, Massachusetts.
