Pros

MIT has a very collegial and intellectual atmosphere. It also supports a highly entrepreneurial atmosphere that pervades many aspects of MIT.

Cons

Winters in Boston are cold and slushy. MIT itself has highly technological labs, but the actual infrastructure of the University is certainly not state-of-the-art.

Pros

MIT lives up to its reputation in pretty much every way. It has a distinct culture that values innovation, rigorous science, and originality. There is a truly collaborative atmosphere here.

Cons

The weather in Boston is pretty awful for most of the year. Living in Cambridge is expensive. Not many lunch options in the middle of campus.

Pros

- A lot of freedom when choosing research topic - Collaborative environment between research groups - Well funded research resources, facility, offices, equipment, etc

Cons

- Not very rigorous on the technical side (at the Media Lab) - Lab is mainly funded by corporate sponsors, and a lot of work/time goes into demoing/pitching projects to visitors
