Pros

The company has a very large global reach. The opportunities are high in terms of what department and where you want to work. The overall diversity of the company is impressive. The company also operates with a high level of integrity. Employees in the entire group have a high level of passion.

Cons

The normal downsides of big companies - slow to change. Strict guidlines and low levels of authority hender progress.

Pros

Company has a decent Medical Dental Plan and a beautiful work location in a park like setting. In addition they support the mass transit initiative by contributing up to $105 monthly to employers who use public transportation in lieu of driving a car. They also provide a van to pick up employees at the train station and drive them to the office daily.

Cons

Lack of foresight at senior management level led company to acquire a competitor in 2006 only to lose $600 million in the following year due to downturn in customer shipping trends. This necessitated significant down-sizing and loss of company morale.

Pros

Maersk is proud to be the world's largest shipping company. If you like to learn how to run a global company, this company is the great starting point in your career. I believe it has one of the world's best HR development programs that could help you to advance your career, either within Maersk or in other companies. Many of my colleagues in many countries were recruited aggressively by other big multi-national firms. Highly recommended!!

Cons

If you didn't join the company as a management trainee, your career growth may be limited. It's not always the case but non-management-trainee employees rarely become a senior position. Moreover, during the recruiting process, you'll be required to do personality test which will be used very seriously for hiring decision and for your entire career in Maersk. Although it does helps management to find the right man for the right job, too much focus on it may be harmful.
