Pros

This department, commonly known as DF, is the greatest department to work in if you are working for Lush. It has everything an employee could ask for. First of all, GREAT management. The top manager, Jamie, was often wearing a yellow west, taking out the trash, picking orders, stacking the products on the shelves and just working like any other employee. Weekly he held a meeting where he gathered everybody together in the middle of the factory to give a brief update, and always made sure he phrased everyone as a whole. Because everyone is valued the same. It was such a good and much needed motivation to continue doing your very best. The whole department works as a team, one can not work without another, and so, if the department does well and the target for the day is reached, every single person contributing gets a bonus. There are no individual targets in DF. It is both equal and fair. Everyone is so helpful, as a new staff member you need basic training, but in DF it doesn't end there. You are always being looked after, if you mess up, no problem, somebody will fix it and you are not put down for it or made to feel bad about it! People are generally very happy and cheerful in DF and that makes the whole atmosphere just were relaxed and nice. And the best part, nobody is rushing you! So you are not constantly stressed out about not hitting target or not doing the right thing. As long as you keep working, they value your work. It is beyond good! And you are even allowed to stop and chat with your fellow staffers, just don't take too long.

Cons

If you are a picker (your job is to pick out the items that people have ordered online and get it ready), you are walking for 7 hours (you do get two 15 minute breaks and one half hour lunch). But you will most likely lose weight in the process. If you are a checker (checking the order to see if the picker got it right), or a packer (packing up the order), you stand for 7 hours. So it's a lot of physical work that the body has to get used to.

Used to be fun, but now there is a lack of support

Pros

Ethical policies, staff discount, free Employee Assistance Program

Cons

Over the years the degree of transparency from HO seems to have diminished greatly over time. There is a lack of support from HO, and when support is requested... crickets. Even though there is a constant supply of new stores opening, HO doesn't hire internally very often to accommodate the growth and supply support to the stores. The business itself is incredibly clique-y, and you will know when you're not popular. Opportunities tend to be only offered to popular or Sydney based staff. The remuneration for Casual staff is excellent but incredibly sub-par for Management. Expect to see your casual staff make more money than you during busy periods.
