Pros
One of the big reasons I love working at Luno is my fellow employees, or more commonly known as Lunauts. From day one, everyone was friendly and helpful, always willing to share their knowledge, local coffee spots or even taking time out of their day to have a chat in the kitchen to get to know me.
A big indicator of a company’s culture is demonstrated by its leaders - at Luno it is very apparent that our culture trickles down from the founders and senior leadership team. There are no big egos, drama or politics that I have experienced elsewhere and instead, there is on overall feeling of being humble, genuine, caring about your colleagues as well as challenging the status quo; it is encouraged to innovate and suggest improvements to a system, process, office layout, whatever it may be, our ideas are always listened to and never shot down.
Of course there are some fantastic perks such as free lunch, weekly drinks in the office, fruit/coffee/snacks, office events, health insurance etc though what matters more to me is a fantastic culture, a place where I can be myself and that is what I have at Luno - no matter which office I have visited or interacted with around the world.
Cons
We of course have had some growing pains as a start-up that is evolving into more of an adolescent company though what I really respect is that at Luno we own up internally to mistakes and failures we’ve made but we take steps to fix or change - we have an open and transparent culture.
