Pros

The people that we work with daily are great-they are still the legacy Embarq folks.

Cons

Senior leadership from CenturyTel still have the "Old Bell Company" mentality where employees and customers should be seen/pay their bills and not be heard. Their arrogance is pathetic. Since taking over they have strong armed the legacy Embarq Sales force into signing Non-Compete agreements, eliminated our Pension Plan, increased quotas, indescriminately taken away sales commissions from top performers, turned off service to our customers for non-pay-when it was CenturyTels' fault for not notifying customers that they had changed the bill to address and the issues go on and on. The turning off service off was the last straw for me. The FCC needs to take a hard look at approving the Qwest merger as these issues are sure to get worse with the additional work load. Qwest Sales folks will not put up with this treatment for long. They come from an extremely competitive enviornment and know that their business is all about relationships between people and not arrogant companies. If legacy CenturyTel does not figure that out soon-they will destroy what Chris Ancel has built at Qwest BMG.

Total disconnect between management and employees

Pros

Good insurance, time off policy, holidays, retirement, good insurance, time off policy, holidays, retirement, good insurance, time off policy, holidays, retirement

Cons

Total disconnect between management and employees. Recent acquisitions of Embarq and Qwest causing friction between CenturyLink and new company employees; creating an "our way/your way" environment. Total misunderstanding of the ISP engineering department and functions by management. The protocols being forced on this department are unreasonable and time consuming. Management does not listen to department complaints. Wages for engineers far behind industry average.
