Churn and Burn. Get ready to work very hard and not get paid for it.

Pros

Flexible yet demanding work environment. You will definitely learn on the job, but it will be the hard way. If you have what it takes to drive revenue growth for your producers, you will be rewarded with comp and career advancement. If you are young and hungry to learn, this is the place to get your feet wet as a recent college grad. Learn what you can, make connections and get hired by a firm where career advancement is possible for the average non-producing associate.

Cons

Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, resilient and an a*& kisser to have any chance to advance. Management rewards the few standouts very well, but the average worker has little opportunity for career advancement. Be prepared to get the run around about compensation unless you have the talent to get on the fast track. Overall, you can get paid more for much less stress elsewhere.

Pros

The training is comprehensive, and even if your end career goal is not insurance brokerage, the skills you gain in terms of customer service, salesmanship and professionalism are incredibly valuable.

Cons

+Some training can become tedious +Your exposure is dependent upon dept availability (some departments may not need help)

Pros

- Lockton makes it a point to provide many work perks (Fun Fridays, Super Bowling, Summer Hours) - 'Family-like' culture - Lockton pays for text books and testing for many certifications, designations and licensing

Cons

- Favortism is a big problem - Short handed a lot of times - If you are able to take more work, they will pile it on
