Pros

Felt positive about role after telephone & face to face interviews. Good induction, entertaining and informative. Office itself in Crowthorne is good light and airy, two kitchenettes on the floor I was on for coffee/tea and heating lunch, one hour for lunch. Working from home during COVID-19 lockdown and being retained while others were furloughed. Good mixture of age/gender amongst staff at Crowthorne House.

Cons

Okay salary but other employee benefits are poor compared other companies in the commercial sector. Merged IT department from the Leaders and Romans sides of business have not fully gelled and have a bit of us and then mentality as well as a blame game for department staff past and present. Management of team is difficult due to multiple leaders on technical & management side who are either too hands off or too hands on verging on micromanagement, some deadlines are too unrealistic or too lenient depending on who you are which is not fair. Could not gel with line manager, made remarks about the time I turned up the office in morning even though I turned up at assumed 9am start. Onsite parking is actually offsite parking requiring mini bus transfer or short walk, parking place lottery on other days unless your turn up before 7am to find a free space. Head office location is a little bit of the beaten track. Company does not trust staff due to leads/sales nature of business & culture.

Pros

I joined Romans in 1992 as a trainee Lettings Advisor, within two years I progressed to manage the only Lettings office at the time, since then the company has grown and grown, giving me the opportunity to both start up new offices as well as working with the companies we have acquired over the years. Some great people in the business with strong support from IT, HR, Accounts as well as Property Management, Move Management and Renewals. The company continues to grow offering great career progression opportunities for all.

Cons

I don't have any negatives.

Pros

Overall there is a great culture in the company that is exhibited from the top down. A sign of this is during the recent pandemic there were regular updates whether people were furloughed or working, that the updates came from the head of the company who took interest in what was going on only made this better. During my time working for the company I can honestly say it was a very positive experience and it is clear to see that there is a real drive to improve and invest in those who work for the company.

Cons

Support from the various departments is excellent and while there are always those who do not live the company values there are also always those who will listen and help when this occurs
