Pros
Decent pay, not overwhelmed, decent working environment, work at your own pace, union run plant
Cons
Medical is terrible and expensive, downsizing constantly, not replacing people, 6-2 schedule rotating ( get overtime on it once a month or so 6th day basically u are working for free) No 401k match for union members. Inconsistent over time. Because of being cheap you NEVER know your schedule, management can change it even the day before your scheduled day with no remorse or caring if you have plans. Slow months off weekends not much notice when going to 7 days a week. To get day shift will take 10+ years if your lucky. 1st year 75% of pay you get 2nd year 90% and third year full rate. Union is clueless and only looks out for long time workers. constantly trying to get technology to cut jobs. Union workers get hourly rate nothing more they preach everyone is the same which is far from what’s going on union workers don’t get 401k match, bonuses, or anything else offered to company people. Company was just bought out (formerly chemtura) Only thing the new company is excelling at is chopping jobs and raising benefits astronomically. Just received dental vision and sick days this year never had them before. They only care about coverage not people who have families. Vacations are a year behind only after a full year do you get vacation!
