Pros

Good food, decent training, and a open work environment.

Cons

Leadership is lazy do not adhere to the MBM principles. Those same principles are culted upon you in training. Leadership was never there and a very biased group of individuals. The open source metric reporting system laid a platform for them to practice biased behaviors upon the specialists. The worst "leaders" I have ever had in my life and career. My upper management knew nothing about technology only pretended they did, Charles Koch pays them to care, politics at its finest. The department was very racist against minorities as well. My grievance resulted in my ultimate "Same day separation". Which is why I feared to report any wrongdoing of management/peers in the first place.

Pros

Only take this role if you are straight out of college, and have no technical or business skills whatsoever. You may learn some things about the energy trading space, but most likely not. You will probably get better at excel though, but if you have an opportunity to go into a front office role directly out of school, take that opportunity. Experienced folks - if you want a job that is not dead end, do not take this role!

Cons

There are alot of downsides to this role. 1) There is no critical thinking needed. The role is simply plugging and chugging numbers into a excel spreadsheet everyday. Every single day is the exact same. There is no variation. Front office team looks to you like a robot cost center, and as someone that just makes mistakes since you are calculating their PnL for them. 2) They tell you that you can make it to the front office constantly, but very few people are able to do it (and those that do take MANY years to do) so turnover is extremely large. The hours are not fantastic either. In all, I would absolutely not recommend the product control role whatsoever unless you really enjoy repetitive work with 0 upside.

Pros

Great coworkers for the most part. Everyone is really dedicated to getting the sale and working together to get the job done

Cons

Mgmt has a lot of issues, emphasis on speed over quality if work life. Don't care how many hours you have to work as long as you get the job done. Works out in their favor since most office employees are salary and it doesn't matter how long you work. Was working 80-100 hrs a week and it still wasn't good enough

Thank you for your feedback! It provides a good opportunity for organizational learning and growth. One of our core Principles is for employees to find fulfillment and meaning in their work by fully developing their capabilities, but within that spirit, we also encourage balance through community involvement, volunteerism, and offering additional benefits for employees and their families (e.g., health and welfare, 401k savings, paid time-off, etc.).
