Pros

Co-workers have been very good to work with.

Cons

Company is closing stores rapidly. No job security. Store management treats pharmacists disrespectful. Given way too many things to do at a time. Very little support. Constantly overwhelmed. Checkout procedure for Rx's takes longer than filling Rx.

Pros

Kmart is a great choice for teenagers or college students looking to break into the job market and gain experience. In my time here I've worked as a cashier and then moved into Pricing Specialist, where dabbled into nearly every aspect of the retail setting, from Hardlines to Receiving to Softlines. It really helps you to know the ins and outs of working at Retail store, and gives you a great foundation to set off from. Work environment between other employees was overall supportive, Mostly a team effort and they're really willing to train and help you where I worked. They were really flexible with my schedule and college classes, once you've been there a year you been to accrue vacation hours, but it's pretty easy to still take extended days off as long as you do it in advance.

Cons

Upper Management at the store level has a lot of stresses on them from corporate and regional managers, this is turn means a lot of pressure is put onto pretty much anyone above an entry level position. Luckily my managers were good people and didn't become angry with you, but they definitely kept hard on you about fulfilling your work duties. Often had a work load that I could not complete with the hours I was given, which led to a lot of stress when you brought in the managerial pressure. Promotions come with raises, but don't expect a raise if you stay in one position unless you're there a very long time. Our store had issues with cooling and heating, they often refused to turn it up enough to be tolerable in the summer and warm in the winter. They really push the idea of the shop your way rewards, which while I admit is actually a very good reward card compared to other stores, it had its bugs that made dealing with dissatisfied customers very difficult.
