It’s a great place to work, full of great people. But many policies vary depending on which unit you are in.

Cons

You will not get a raise unless you either get another offer and are retained, or you get promoted, that’s it. Merit raises happened twice in the 10 years I was there and neither kept up with inflation, even though I got close to the maximum percentage increase each time.

Amazing faculty in the biology program. The graduate student salary covers cost of living in Manhattan, KS especially if you have roommates.

Cons

Some of the Graduate School Staff are very unhelpful if you have issues in the system with applying to graduate. My advice is to make sure everything is in order the semester before you plan on graduating.
