Pros

Personal time off (vacation and sick) Retirement Swag Work/life balance Great staff

Cons

Management has turned against staff during covid. No longer willing to listen to staff needs/desires. Foundation is hemorrhaging staff, but management is blind. Foundation had a great year, working from home, but it goes against upper management wishes, and now we all pay the price. Used to be a great place to work, but now avoid at all costs. Stack ranking performance, everyone for themselves. Has become less and less transparent over the years. Management actively downgrades staff so they can get better raises. Diversity and other woke themes are taking on a greater and greater role, instead of serving our higher purpose, fund raising for KSU.

Pros

It's in a large town for Kansas, and if you can get into the local church and school community, it can be a nice place to raise kids.

Cons

All decisions and budget are controlled at the department level, meaning there are rich and poor departments across campus. Some classrooms have every electronic convenience, while others have chalkboards and a projector on a cart shared between all professors. The city is lacking in diversity, and not always welcoming to members of any minority - including working mothers and single women not wanting to settle down to a family. There is a portion of the student body which does not have to meet any admission standards beyond the high school diploma. That leads to a lot of remedial courses and uneven student performance.

Pros

No pros come to mind.

Cons

Raises promised but not followed through. Employees sleeping on the job. Toxic and hostile environment including hypocrisy and double standards. No accountability for actions taken. Subordinates treated like trash. Mental health not taken into account; multiple suicides. Supposed to be a place of academia, but only concern is money from patients.
