If you're looking to work more within the makeup industry don't work here, the quality of the majority of the products are not the best therefore you're expected to lie to sell mediocre products that you know don't work well.
-Management is beyond confusing and unorganized, there was a time we had NO general manager. I, a regular FT key holder, was taken advantage of by the district manager by being given all the duties of a store manager with the same exact pay as a key holder- no raise just more stress- this went on for about four months. When I brought up pay raise or position change she would say I don't have management experience...yet she made me "temporary active store manager" for four months? Corporate is unstable as well as regular management, one day you are given directions to do as so and the next day they switch up on you and give you directions to do otherwise. There's lack of communication with sales and promotions causing conflicts with customers (they claim items are on sale yet they fail to change the prices when being rung up in register leading to furious customers wanting their money back due to them getting charged more). Often get in trouble for going by corporates instructs and emails due to store manager not "agreeing" with corporate and thinking their rules are dumb and wanting to run the store their own way- so you're left confused on whose instructions to follow.
-Our store specifically has a "no return policy" (you can only return/exchange UNUSED products for STORE CREDIT) although your physical receipt says otherwise. So we weren't allowed to give money back, yet our store manager never allowed us to display our return policy in front of our cash register, so how was the customer supposed to know when their receipt said they could bring it back for cash. This caused major conflict for returns, the only time manager would approve a customer could be refunded their money back would be after a customer has spent 10 minutes yelling, degrading, and cursing at you over a policy ONE DIDN'T MAKE!
-Hardly any benefits. They have absolutely zero training and unrealistic goals so you never reach commission. Employee discount was always 40% off regular priced products on the 1st day of the month- recently they have a temporary employee discount so you can now get 50% off all products which is a pretty good discount if the products weren't so bad.
-Dress Code, didn't mind it at first you just have to dress semi-professional yet trendy and wear all black. But it then became unfair as store manager would say no faded jeans then come in wearing faded jeans, no sheer tops with a bralette showing yet store manager came in wearing as so, etc. Unfair and confusing. Manager once held meeting and brought up dress code and mentioned to dress more conservative and stated "we are selling makeup not sex"... unnecessary.
