Pros

Customers - most of them are pretty decent & friendly. Some partners but not all, particularly those who are frazzled by overwork due to lack of partners & under payment.

Cons

JL used to be such a nice place to work but not anymore.... Not enough partners thereforeextreme pressure is being put on existing staff to make up for this - very unfair & wrong. Pay is low like everywhere in retail, hard to make a decent living. Lack of robust systems & lack of pricing on goods should be a real concern to management but no one is really bothered by this. Some Management a complete waste of time. No concern for staff & are very non approachable. Couldn’t care less & very arrogant & frankly useless at their jobs!

Pros

You get a good amount of breaks and food in the canteen is affordable

Cons

As a temporary employee you were seen by management to just be disposable and not a real part of the team. My manager wouldn’t acknowlege or speak to me. When I had concerns at work, managers would listen, but then gossip behind your back. The job is very boring and mundane and progression opportunities are limited

Pros

Some leisure benefits including discount. general staff are friendly and helpful.

Cons

Very much a dictatorship, there is a firm and clear hierarchy within this particular branch - making for uncomfortable working. There is very little compassion for partners - small things like time off for family issues seems to be an unwanted problem. All managers are in it for themselves - plenty of brown - nosing going on. As partners of the business, you'd expect them to pull their weight, yet stand from the side line observing and telling 'minions' what to do. Don't let them fool you into career progression, I've seen it throughout the business, that they'll use you where and when needed, but when it comes to promotion you're left standing. You're on your feet all day, with fewer and fewer staff "because of the shift to online" it is putting additional strain on the existing members, many have back, knee and hip pain. They expect a lot of work out of you for not much pay - definitely better things out there.
