Pros

- Good facilities (expected from any large pharmaceutical company). - Working as a postdoc enabled me to have a look at the company from a neutral point of view since I was in most cases not incorporated into most of the points I am about to mention in the cons. - A temporary bridge to your future job (at another company) because of the J&J name stuck to it.

Cons

- Extremely bad to no management. - A local assistant is much more valued and entrusted to a higher level of responsibilities than senior internationals with higher credentials, experience, education and knowledge. - Company is overloaded with old aged people with old ideas and of course their inability to integrate with the much lesser younger and often the more qualified generation is clearly there. - Complete lack of international mindset. - Childish kinder garden attitude is very welcome in daily work. - Absolutely no chance of growth and no way of enriching your soft skills (no practice of communication skills, or research skills, or leadership). If you want to lose your hard earned skills, work at Janssen for a longer time. - The word "Research" is categorized as a very bad word at Janssen. It is considered time wasting and is completely discouraged. - Horrible and negative team spirit that demonstrates absolute negative energy which could make you feel that going there every day is a huge burden. - The credo is a lie and all employees know this and say this to eachother (a missed opportunity indeed). - Forcing employees to study Dutch at their expenses and at their free time, even though no mention of this in the contract what so ever. Even though everyone speaks English fluently. - Non-existent to communication behind your back. Almost every management decision or rating bypasses you and before you know it, you are a very poor performer. - If you want to work with rude people who show you absolute disrespect, work at Janssen. - Artificial forced selection of employees to go higher, which does not give a fair chance to all employees at the same level to achieve higher career milestones. - Unfair employee evaluation system. - Very bad salary which is not constant and decreases over time. - No company library while having a beach volley court !!! - Firing some employees is communicated to other employees on the bulletin board to scare them. - Forcing you to stay at work until unrealistic times ( sometimes 8 pm). - If you sometimes get imperfect results you are yelled at that your work is "Rubbish".

Pros

Other than fair compensation and benefits there is nothing exceptional about the compensation package. Work life balance is OK on paper but you cannot afford to take off without being overwhelmed when you return to work. If you like a high stress, challenging environment, you may like working here but it is not for everyone.

Cons

Dishonest leadership. Show favoritism. Unrealistic expectations. Hypocritical on credo and diversity. High turnover of good talent. Terrible odor from waste treatment. Poor control of HVAC throughout. Workers don't answer credo survey honestly due to fear of retaliation and survey is always completed before performance review.

Pros

Pay and benefits are great. Meant to suck you in so they can bleed you dry.

Cons

Management is terrible. There is no “team” here. Adversarial and political are the two words you should get to know here. The right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing and it all trickles down to the individual contributor.
