All that glitters is not Gold
Pros
Salary is good and location for me is ideal
Cons
Where do I start: Poor senior management within Group IT, they demand control to the point where they cannot keep up with demand. The key here is delegation, thats why you hire people to manage on your behalf surely? This is by far the worst company/department i've worked for. Although i've heard in areas outside of IT its better. IT people cannot work from home which is the most ridiculous nonsense i've heard in a while. Out of date technology, applications, intranet is dire and looks amateur. Communication is non existent, they have no concept of distribution lists, organisationan charts or cross unit information. I work for JLT and feel I know nothing about the company HR have no information on payscales, bonuses or payrises readily available anywhere. There is no documentation about any standard procedures in IT such as project management methodology, guides etc. I have no idea how a project gets done in this place and how you would even kick one off. No career development conversations are had and i'm bored to tears Kitchens are dark and depressing, an entire floor needs to be dedicated to staff with giant windows allowing in natural light along with tv's, book corner, microwaves etc well away from the working desks. Considering they provie benefit packages to companies, what they offer their own staff is rubbish. Pension contribution is too long and no company car, instead is the ridiculously expensive salary sacrifice scheme.
