Pros

Surrounded by brilliant and passionate people. Long list of challenging and rewarding design problems. Exciting product that makes a positive impact on patients' lives.

Cons

Depending on the phase of a project, the tightly regulated environment (medical devices) can lead to a lot of paperwork and overhead to getting things done.

Pros

Good health benefits, cafeteria, espp program. The company makes an amazing product that really improves surgical outcomes

Cons

Management views finance as a cost center and doesn't appreciate the value provided to the organization. Finance operates very lean making it hard to get necessary information from other groups as they are also very busy. Overall there is a lack of funding for business process improvement and software/it improvements. Also, opportunities to advance and grow are lacking.

Pros

Though at times work can be like drinking water from a fire hose here at Intuitive Surgical, there is a strong culture of friendly and capable people at all levels of the company. Training is offered, and overall there is culture driven with a high energy level toward positive growth as well. When employees get to bring their kids with them to work "to see the robots", it's exciting for everyone! Finally, management is capable, approachable, and responsible.

Cons

Work-life balance may be challenging, there is always too much to get done at once, and there might not be as many perks to match as seen with other innovative firms in Silicon Valley (no gym). The company is undergoing growing pains. Cubicles may leave people less able to interact with others at times.
