Informatica Response

We regret that you have had an apparently bad experience working at Informatica. Yet the vast majority of your colleagues in India rate the Company very highly - 80% say they would recommend Informatica to their friends as a place to work, they rate our Senior Management 3.7 out of 5 stars (above the Glassdoor average and the average for our industry peer group), and they give the Culture & Values a solid 4.0 out of 5. We hope you can either begin to see the extraordinary potential and opportunity afforded you at Informatica (as your peers have) or that you seek out an environment more aligned with your values. Informatica is not for everyone. While it is very collaborative and offers good benefits (3.7 out of 5 stars), it is a culture that demands intellectual rigor and dedication to our customers' success and the strategic goals of the Company. If you are unhappy in such a culture, then by all means seek your fulfillment elsewhere.

Pros

Free food, decent office facility

Cons

New management can simply take out people from projects and make them feel insecure Too much regional favoritism. Team I worked had only Tamilians. I was the only odd man out and I could not get along well with them.

Pros

Have been working in Informatica GCS for couple of years with an overall industry experience of around 5 years, Having earlier worked in a couple of companies and multiple projects/managers the review I provide is more in comparison with my earlier experiences. 1) Excellent scope for learning. As an engineer working on the customer success front helping them in implementing their projects, There is an necessity which drives the engineers to excel in the field of the technology they are working on. The expectation levels of the customers also acts as an motivation. In client calls an engineer with an experience of around 3 years interacts with an team from the customer, service provider majorly comprising of people with decades of industry experience ends up providing an lot of exposure to the engineer on the business management. With regard to continual learning there has been an significant addition to the internal courses and now an engineer has free access to lot of courses on other tools. 2) Knowledge Sharing Mentality. Have observed that an associate working in Informatica is very much open to sharing the knowledge he has acquired from his experience. The management encourages this attitude with an excellent knowledge sharing site and with good awards or rewards for your efforts in this front. This helps an engineer in his learning days and also there has been an good feedback by the customer. Feels good when your collegemates ping and tell you that they used your support videos from you tube for their project implementation. This knowledge sharing attitude ends up reducing the dependency on one particular engineer. 3) Higher Management The higher management in right from the VP's to the managers are role models and set an example for the rest to be followed. Right from their down to earth attitude, easily accessible, Open to our concerns any discussion with the management always results in fruitful outcomes. During critical scenarios the managers lead from the front by themselves getting their hands dirty on the logs. Even I have observed the management extending their full support in terms of WFH or leaves option when an engineer faces an family emergencies. They are always interested in knowing the happenings in our personal life and extent their full support or advice in resolving the issues or counselling us with their experience. Quite contrary to other places where the interaction is only from 9-6 and about 9-6. Even during the recent privatisation there weren't any major lay offs which quite against everyones expectations. 4) Leads The technical leads and SME's are very knowledgeable and always willing to help us on any technical issues we face irrespective of the teams we belong to. This attitude is often taken as an example leading to an very friendly and helping environment within the teams. The techincal capacity and the way of resolving and looking at issues is an art which others have to learn from. 5) Incentives and perks The hikes/salary is very well above the industry standards. There is no bell fitting or curve fitting unlike other companies so the efforts are directly responsible for the hikes. 6) Work Life Balance. The work culture is good, There is an pretty balanced work life. The approach here is nurturing the engineer to be the best person for the job rather than getting the job done by the best person. Changing of Depts between GCS/QA/SALES/FC is encouraged.

Cons

There isnt major con side of working here but I can suggest the below 1) Change in designations There has been requests on the designation from an Technical Support engineer to other designation which "looks good" in your Linkedin Profile. Considering that people with same experience level have an designation of Consultants/Analysts in other companies, This concern has been put forward to HR team and management and we have got positive feedback on the same, Hoping this would be considered in upcoming quaters. 2) Allowances during HQ travel could be increased, 3) The canteen should be open for longer times and should be subsidized.
