Pros

Ability to work with "big data" and acquire skills that are demanded in the industry. Co-workers and managers are knowledgeable and very team oriented. Flexible work hours.

Cons

Can be a stressful place to work nearing deadlines. The first couple weeks of the job could be difficult as there is a lot to learn about the products.

Pros

In my organization (specialized sales), there is a lot of opportunity to interact with high-level management and provide input. This makes me feel engaged, valued, and able to help. The product line is fantastic and the majority of the employees I've worked with so far are extremely knowledgeable. The sales teams are very technically competent. The customer needs really feel like they're put first. The overall company culture is very concerned with doing your best, being accountable, and having a lot of integrity. These are qualities I value very much. The office culture is very casual (no dress code!) with lots of flexibility. I can work at home when I need/want to. I can attend appointments without being very concerned about sticky business hours. Respectful of work/life balance. Not high stress, but busy enough to feel really engaged and wanted. If there are meetings over lunch, lunch is brought in. The office has lots of freebies: snacks, soda, fancy coffee, fridge to put your lunch in. Not a lot of red tape to get through to justify purchases (technology or travel, for example). Management trusts that you're doing what you say you're doing. Very fair expense reimbursement. EXCELLENT benefits--competitive compensation and commission, 401k matching and managed by Fidelity, affordable insurance with pretty good coverage (even with a CA-based headquarters and insurance company when I'm on the east coast). Competitive flexible time off (FTO) that improves with longer retention. Most powerful work laptop I've ever had access to! The hardware specs are to die for. CEO is very approachable, interesting, and well spoken. He seems well connected to what's going on in different parts of the company. He's very knowledgeable about the various product lines.

Cons

I haven't had to renegotiate salary, OTE, commission yet. I haven't tried to be promoted. I have no idea how that process is--I'm too new :-). Those are usually the cons I experience in an organization, and I don't know what to expect here yet. No BYOD except for phones and limited support for Mac products.

My opinion of working at Informatica after 2 years with the company.

Pros

The company has excellent products with a strong reputation, and this is important to me as I am in technical sales and I need to feel confident in what I am positioning with prospects. My reputation rides on my customer's success and I can feel very confident in what I am positioning with Informatica solutions. I have worked at many companies, most large, but some medium sized as well, so I feel I have a good basis for an unbiased and informed opinion on the company culture and what it is like to work here. This is very significant because compensation alone is not enough to truly enjoy working someplace. I have found that Informatica, unlike some places I have experienced in the past, has a culture that cares about its employees, invests heavily in their education, and truly acts in such a way as to make the employees know that they are valued as an asset to the organization. They do require dedicated effort, and that employees take the training seriously, but you really get the impression that you matter here, and you can make a difference. In exchange I feel that they compensate extremely well for the results we produce.

Cons

So far not seeing a lot of down side!!!
