Pros

Innovation is fostered, fast exciting environment, great people

Cons

David Perry, CEO, doesn't listen to the customer. He gets product ideas in his ivory tower and pushes them through the org without ever vetting them with customers. Then he sets ridiculous, unachievable goals that demoralizes the team.

Pros

Indigo is a very exciting place to work at the intersection of agriculture and tech. Initially a biotech company focused on microbial seed treatments when I joined, the company has reoriented itself towards building digital tools to help growers sell grain (Marketplace) and adopt regenerative growing practices to facilitate carbon credit payments (Carbon). Specifically, working on the Corp Dev team was a very exciting opportunity to have visibility into the most important aspects of the business, such as business strategy, fundraising, investor relations, and more. As the company frequently says, agriculture is one of the last major industries to be disrupted, and Indigo has consistently been at the forefront of disruptive ideas in agriculture.

Cons

The following can be common growing pains of startups, but Indigo does seem to face unique challenges from a leadership and company culture perspective. In certain key roles, leadership does not have the track record of success at Indigo that would seem to be requisite for maintaining such a role. At times, this dynamic can be inseparable from company culture, where the perception of progress seems more valued by leadership than honest discussions regarding the challenges and limitations of a product offering or business model.
