A rainy day option but poor pay and support
Pros
It's a place to go on a rainy day. I have a few friends from work. Close to good shopping and a few nice restaurants. Convenient for trams and buses.
Cons
Very low pay. Staff are not appreciated, applauded, or compensated fairly for time and effort. Staff leave and are not replaced, increasing work load for everyone. Standards are expected to remain high. Budget is king, No matter how hard it is on the workers to have too few staff to do the work., they do not care how short staffed the teams are. Management does not care. Token 'mental health' programs do nothing. Corporate training modules are frequent, manditory, and useless, meanwhile many staff don't know how to do the basics of their jobs. Hard-working, reliabel staff who go above and beyond make the same rate of pay as the loafers who simply show up to get paid and do absolutely nothing. On a personal level, I feel undervalued as an employee and as a person. My personal and professional development means nothing to management. My 6+ years of service, loyalty and dedication mean nothing. My 10 or 12 hour shifts, coming in on my days off, answering calls and emails from home--all mean nothing to them. I have been promised a raise and/or promotion twice and not received it. An employee in my department glides through the day doing nothing, has to be guided and reminded to do through daily tasks, and makes the same pay as I do.
