Pros

Coworkers make the day more enjoyable.

Cons

Management does NOT care about loyalty. Another 300+ were laidoff so the Board of Directors could get their raise and desired profit margin. Sad that they felt it would be better to layoff the employees that had years of experience and knowledge simply because they are among the higher paid employees.

Pros

IGT used to be one of the best places to work in Reno. Great benefits, strong sense of community, lots of opportunity. Upper management lived in Reno and cared about their employees.

Cons

IGT's BOD - were hijacked by Patti Hart and the decline began. Everything has changed. She systematically removed the old guard, and replaced them with her Silicon Valley high tech cronies. She has torn out the heart of IGT and now is selling the remaining organs to the highest bidder. IGT has now been sold to GTech with a tidy little profit to Patti and friends. I have heard that GTech is a Italian family run company - hopefully they can rescusitate the company and infuse it with some heart.

Pros

Coworkers for the most part are good people. Compensation is competitive, especially considering the low(er) cost of living in Nevada as compared to California or other metropolitan areas.

Cons

The senior management is a joke, with most of them coming from non-gaming industries. Some key mistakes they have made: 1) moving the executive HQ to Las Vegas, while the operations center remains in Reno; 2) focusing operations to try and recover lost market share in over-saturated product markets like megajackpots and core gaming, whereas they should have focused operations on product markets with greater growth opportunity and less competition like video poker and international markets 3) supporting a conservative culture, where risk taking and change are frowned upon - surprisingly, this impacts executives more than employees, for example when new VP's are hired the expectation is that they should start changing things for the better (which is risky), but the culture frowns on this so many new executive hires are simply over-paid wallflowers that don't act out their changes.
