Cool work, poor mgmt

Pros

Exciting work contributing to public health. Could be a really cool, rewarding job under good (different) management.

Cons

Management only cares about the bottom line. Scheduling doesn't follow their own rules often assigning shifts 12 or 13 days in a row or on days you're allowed and have elected to be "unavailable". What's "easiest" for the few schedulers far outweighs what's best for the large majority of staff running the clinic. Morale and turnover often reflect. Used to be good pay. Icon bought out former PRA summer '22 and is ultra tight budgeted often closing FTE's while increasing workloads beyond reasonable limits. Icon unwilling to increase pay in spite of double work load and locally almost double housing and cost of living increases. Promotion pay increase capped at 8% regardless of level of increase in promotion. When asked about increases mgmt just laughs. Full refusal to address concerns stating "don't be negative". Complete failure to prevent problems stating "we'll cross that bridge when we get to it" no matter how large or obvious the impending problem.

Pros

Being from a legacy company and joining with ICON has been challenging, stressful, and certainly a time of transition.

Cons

Less bonus despite stellar reviews, less pay increase (reasoning was that it was pre-determined for just this transition year), less responsiveness by other departments such as IT, less connectivity across internal departments, less ability for 'people managers' to resolve any issues, decline in job description with increased responsibility.

Treats smaller divisions like the red-headed step child

Pros

Generous PTO. You'll need it to preserve your mental health.

Cons

Annual raises are fixed per department and distributed on a bell curve. So if one person gets a "decent" raise, then others in the department must get less, even if all did a phenomenal job. This completely removes any incentive to go above and beyond. Refuses to replace workers who leave, or they replace them with much more junior (i.e. cheaper) new hires. Has quarterly meetings to brag about record revenue while refusing to increase bonuses and salaries accordingly. New hires can take months to be hired and by then, candidates have often found employment elsewhere. Dismal healthcare plans, and HR tries to push employees into plans that cost the company less but employees more.
