Pros

Startup culture to a T. The mission is something that can motivate anyone to wake up & be thrilled to go to work each and every day. The teams and individuals you work with each day are very close with each other & you will have a good support system within at the lower levels. Free/subsidized lunches and dinners for the hectic hours that are worked to complete various projects. Good if you like a non-routine work schedule

Cons

ICONs culture has taken a significant shift in 2022. As they scaled from 100 employees at the end of 2021 to around ~450 at the end of 2022 & receiving $460 million in startup seed funding, the culture went from caring about the employee to doing what is best for the company & indivduals at the top. Halfway through the year when hiring slowed down due to recession concerns, instead of letting go of some recruiters & paying them a severance for their service to the company, the company has fired 3 of them & claimed it to be "performance-based". There have been four new directors of departments externally brought in the last 6 months & they have done ruthless overhauls of departments & undiplomatically let go of employees that did not fit into their vision. ICON may spout about Diversity & Inclusion, but the current data says otherwise. Out of the senior leadership (CEO, CFO, COO, CPO, VPs, & Directors) all of them are white male (with the exception of a white female at the helm of HR). The monoculture that is presented at the top represents the gatekeeping that is often seen in tech & ICON exemplifies that. With the seed funding and publicity of contracts with NASA, DOD, Lennar, etc., ICON knows the gem that it now has and realizes that they can overwork, underpay, & ignore employee satisfaction/needs because there is always someone else waiting to fill the position of an employee no longer on board the new way of operations

Pros

Leadership admitted behind close doors they were reviving a workplace safe for men and followed through by laying off the a huge portion of the women that were considered toxic by many. Celebrate this or demonize it at your discretion. Extremely good pay bordering on wasteful and probably why so many layoff cycles needed to occur.

Cons

ICON fails at the soft skills of technology. They're not incompetent, but they don't know how to manage people. ICON values loyalty and friendship over honesty. That was one good thing about Alex, you could tell him the truth and not get fired over it, even if you weren't friends. The company has burned cash like crazy on silly pet projects. Business outlook is pretty bad, the wall system is not the expensive part of the home building. Zero transparency.

Pros

The pay is great! There aren't a lot of employers out there in this market that are willing to pay this much for little to no experience. Icon pays for meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) The mission statement is very noble. Anyone can get behind it.

Cons

Icon tends to hire and promote Project/Construction Managers that overpromise and under deliver. Instead of taking care of simple things on their current project like subs and rentals, they're planning on the next project that's a year out. This causes the current project to suffer immensely. The hours can be extremely long. Anyone that has worked for other construction companies knows that the rain and cold can sometimes make it unsafe to work. I don't expect a handout for days I don't work, but Icon could easily implement a "compensatory pay" program to cover hourly print operators for the rainy season or unforseen circumstances that are out of anyones hands. It's been brought up to upper management but to my knowledge was immediately shot down. The company doesn't mind paying hundreds of thousands of dollars a month in equipment rentals because they don't want to wait on permits from the city but draws the line when it comes to ensuring the hourly employees at least have a chance of making a full paycheck. doesn't seem right to me. its no wonder that some of the other employees are using the dreaded "U" word. Icon has yearly layoffs to ensure the company's future (as do most companies) but speak out against upper management and you'll no doubt find yourself on that list. Over the last year, there seems to be some segregation with the company. Handfuls of employees are selected to partake in an illuminati-like "retreat" These employees are the "select few" that will be safe from the next round of layoffs. It's supposed to be a secret, but everyone knows about it. They hold these meetings then wonder why morale is so low in Print Operations. Having "unlimited PTO" but never getting use it is aggravating. The nepotism is insane when some operators are allowed 200+ hours of pto and others can't even get 40. speaking of nepotism, if you're not one of the boot lickers, then you can forget about any kind of promotion, special projects, or anything else that might elevate you regardless how hard you work or experienced you are.
