      Arrogant Germanic company that thinks it's diverse and international

      Pros

      1. Good benefits and pleasant working environment (nice offices / campus) 2. Excellent canteens that offer numerous food options 3. Business class travel for flights longer than 6 hours 4. Generally look after people so long employee tenures 5. Invest in your training and development

      Cons

      1. Decisions around new product development cycles are politically driven 2. Rigid and hierarchical structures with top-down management approach 3. Highly complex matrix structure leading to an overly political organisation 4. Like most places your line manager plays a huge role in your overall experience so pick your manager very carefully 5. Appraisal system is not fair or transparent and is easily manipulated to suit political agendas 6. Conservative Germanic company that is generations away from understanding what inclusion means (the board composition is full of white men) 7. Their recruitment process is flawed (they hire you, relocate you from abroad then the same people force you out of the company only within a few months just because they don't like who you are or what you like) 8. They are very good at sweeping things under the carpet when things go awry

      Pros

      Very well structured company in terms of processes and forward-looking mindset from our HQ. There is much to learn from the company and I must say that some colleagues are truly driven. Pretty ok work life balance, if you follow the lifestyle of your parachute-d colleagues.

      Cons

      The management team here stays in their ivory tower and very disconnected from their people, for many years now.. All the talks about employee development is a farce as you need to be a from thier global / local MA programme or assigned from another country. Most of the local staff in Hilti Far East are just supporting characters and pushed extremely hard, paid the least when compared to parachute-d staff. A very top heavy company, especially region office. Even within the region office, staff are disconnected except for 1 group who originates from the same place. This is a place to shout about your achievements without actually having to do much about it. You just have to be really good at marketing yourself to excel here. For most, it is a good place to learn and get out if you are not under any programme or the management's radar, which is an actual fact. Just look at the exodus of talents between 2016 and 2017.
