Pros

Only one pro. That is you can transfer just about anywhere. So it's a good way to move where you want to with a job.

Cons

Where to even start! The pay, terrible. In what world can someone even think that it would be ok to pay an assistant manager 40k a year??? Very under staffed in most locations. Constant revolving door! Very poor training. Very high expectations with no incentives to achieve those rewards.

Pros

Company Car. Free gas. Free Car Insurance. OK pay IF you only work 40 hours (never happens) Good job out of college but don't plan to stay! Great Co-Workers, mostly and if your luck a Great Area Manager. Opportunity to get promoted really quickly.

Cons

As stated before, if you work 40 hours then pay is OK. (42,000 a year) But given that you are required to work 50 to 60 hours a week, the pay isn't worth it ($13 to $16 per hours roughly). There is basically no life outside of work so if you like to have no life outside work and get paid crappy, this is the job for you. They are always hiring and they can't be picky. Good potential employees will work for Enterprise because they pay their MANAGER TRAINEES MORE THEN HERTZ MANAGERS. It is crazy. Most body shops HATE Hertz because they can never get their crap together and try to win their business. EVERY Hertz Location is understaffed. They love to work their poor employees to the point that they only option is to quit. It is sad because Hertz COULD be a great company but its like they a content for being 2nd best rental car. Ha Instead of trying to beat Enterprise, the largest rental car provider, they compare themselves to Avis. Are you kidding me? They say that they are very competitive company but it doesn't sound like it to me. The rates 95% of the time are higher than everyone else and they claim its because they provide better "Customer Service." Well if every employee wasn't exhausted and having to deal with pissed off customers all day, they actually might be able to provide great customer service. The process for promotions is very political and I hope you enjoy blowing smoke up under management rear end because everything is about if they "like" you or not. You might be the best, most qualified person for the promotion and they will give it to someone else who's "numbers" are not that great. Last but not least, Hertz teaches their employees to lie to customers. Whatever you have to say to get the customer to say yes is OK in their book and to top it off. They will try and screw over a customer who purchase the extra insurance. They will make you fill out an Incident Report and collect your information to submitted to corporate. Corporate's job is to find a "loop hole" to get out of paying for the damages even if you paid for the extra insurance. It is a huge scam. All they care about is maximize revenue and screw over customers. I feel horrible about how many people who I sold to because I truly believe that I was helping people but I was sadly wrong. For everyone renting a car, don't buy their insurance. You have better luck with a Hertz Representative make a mistake because they most likely do not know what they are doing or too busy to even do a proper steps to collect of the damages. And Never fill out an Incident Report. That is everything they need to make you pay for the damages.

Pros

You get to learn basic Management roles

Cons

Nobody cares, upper management has no idea what they are doing, people get fired everyday day there, people quit everyday there. Management's way of leading is projecting fear into employees.
