Pros

Good co-workers. It's one of the only jobs that will hire you with little experience in this tough economy.

Cons

Greatly understaffed cannot be emphasized enough. They expect you to clean cars, answer 4 phone lines at once, assist a line of customers, book reservations all at the same time while you're the only one in the office. You'll make a very low salary for busting your back on a daily basis. They expect you to clean cars in a shirt and tie when it's 100 degrees. Also, expect to work 60+ hours/per week. There is no work-life balance. Expect to work 7-6 on a daily basis. This is a SALES job. Do not be confused about a trainee program. You will be a rental agent and will be expected to push insurance onto the customers at least 3 times each rental even though they have expressed they do not want it. You will deal with a lot of customer complaints from people who want refunds because they were mislead. Expect to be spoon fed lies about promotional opportunities and be strung along. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this opportunity.

Pros

- Drive/work with a variety of new cars - Coworkers generally nice - Fairly autonomous during the day

Cons

- You will vacuum cars in a suit in 100* weather. Its as absurd and uncomfortable as it sounds. - Customers are often terrible - Archaic / obtrusive business practices that will frustrate customers constantly (and contribute to them being terrible) - Extremely upsell-driven environment. In non-Airport locations, you often don't have the variety of cars on hand (or the volume in customers) to even attempt reasonable upselling - Highly aggressive sales targets; will let you go if you don't meet them. High threshold before commission on sales will come into play. - Low job satisfaction / low pay / limited commission bonuses / bad work-life balance

not a good career

Pros

easy to get a job. Fast pace.

Cons

No solid vision. Upper management sets unrealistic goals and takes no responsibility for themselves. I was fired for following company policy that pissed off a high profile client. I was flooded with phone calls on vacations, including my honeymoon. You are asked to always say yes, even with little or no support to make it happen. Going above and beyond is not a great thing, it is the very minimum expectation. If you make any customer unhappy, it is your fault, even if you were told what to do.
