Pros

Company car is a nice benefit. Most locations run off of seniority which can be a good or a bad thing.

Cons

Turnover rate is REALLY High! In 2 years at least 27 sales reps have quit or been let go. In 4 years 12 managers have quit. The Reno Airport is always understaffed. Managers have been working 6 days when we use to work 5. Also you spend more time working like an employee cleaning cars, moving cars, and doing rentals rather than managing. Senior management does not do any recognition but points out every flaw you have.

Pros

Company car. Benefits were outstanding. Bonuses after a serious hail storm were terrific. Great coworkers.

Cons

Butt kissing gets you to the top. Incompetent area managers promoted by territory managers. Tend to work on the "drinking buddy" system. Office politics were in full effect. Constantly understaffed locations led to customer complaints, poor service and bad surveys. Which meant you wouldn't get your bonus. Too many opportunities for you to NOT reach your bonus then there was to actually attain it. This led to employee fraud just to keep your job. Area managers would ask you to call your customers and beg them to fill out the surveys. Manager trainees are forced to manipulate the system in order to keep their job let alone reach a bonus. Too much pressure put on to up sell the LDW or any new products they decide to add. I.e roadside assistance, neverlost , satellite radio. Area Managers like to separate employees at branches in order to try and make a lower performing branch start to improve. Only problem is, now you are stuck with a crappy employee and you get written up for his/her poor selling numbers now. While the other Branch Manager gets rewarded with bonuses you should have received. Always running out of cars and forcing to have to break reservations. If you did have cars you had to give them to another location due to utilization. Then you would be out of cars yourself, forcing you to once again break reservations. Serious double edged sword.

Pros

At front line levels and up to mid management there are still many good people with a willingness to do the right thing for customers, passion for service and diligent work ethic. Most, however, have left, really want to leave, or are desperately clinging to the hope that things will improve. Company car and free gas is HUGE perk. Company brand overall is well recognized. Benefits, including 401K and pension are strong.

Cons

Super long hours and work that is endless for clients that are often very justifiably upset. NO pay increases, though you can earn two nickels if you double the quota you doubled last year (#pointless) and you really never know if your bonus is accurate since the rules are constantly changing and numbers are being "manually adjusted" (#bendoverandworkharderNOW). Your boss is just as disillusioned since they have taken away all of his/her resources to do a proper job, including having enough cars to rent. Your bosses boss has one solution to every problem which is survive (#fireeveryonearound mesoicantbeblamed) and therefore has no authentic rapport with direct reports. This is NOT a recipe for a happy life or a prosperous company. Its gonna get worse. Stock dropped 9% June 6, 2014. It will be panic and pandemonium for at least another year.
