Pros

Most colleagues are nice and helpful, extensive training programme for fresh recruiters

Cons

Lack of transparency and communication, company changes their direction and policies on a whim with lack of communication to the ground. Extremely high turnover with unhappy employees yet company hides behind being a norm in a sales environment. Management treats the company like a school, lack of trust in employees and lack of competent middle managers Hardly any flexibility, expected to hit KPIs even when on leave, condemn consultants who don't make fees in every single month. Recklessly putting employees on performance improvement plans. Promotions not on merit but favouritism Lack of strategic direction and clear operational processes. Corporate functions do not understand the nature of the industry, making it challenging for consultants to achieve results as they are held back by internal processes.

Pros

I can't even think of one

Cons

Stupidly long hours, there was no need to be in the office for that long, had absolutely no work/life balance. Toxic managers!! Never felt comfortable with going to them if I had a problem as they were all such close friends. Also, they were very cliquey and didn't care about your wellbeing, only cared if you were on the phones calling people for no reason. I was shouted at for not making a call by 9am, bear in mind I wasn't working on a job and my manager wanted me to call people at 8am just for the sake of making a call. Pay is awful, they act like it's amazing and the bonus structure is horrendous. Retention rates are also shocking, think I was one of about 10 people in a year to leave my office alone. I'm not surprised so many people leave with they way they treat people. I started this job as a graduate and I cannot stress enough how you should avoid this company!! My time here can only be described as one of the worst times of my life and my mental health took a serious toll. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!!!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Providing our employees with a true work life balance and supporting their wellbeing is important to Hays as an employer. Equally as important is ensuring that we set up all our new starters for success and believe there is no better way to learn than by working alongside your colleagues. If the expectations of the role were not clearly discussed with you, then I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly to ensure future starters are set up for success and feel heard by their line managers.
