Pros

They produce good marketing materiel and conduct good market surveys which clients and candidates find very useful and because of that they get a good social media following.

Cons

They are deceitful. Employment lawyers will tell you the employment contract is all in favour of Hays and it in no way looks to protect their employees whilst employed or after. Beware, they will refuse to pay you any commission/incentive owed to you if you leave (even though it states in your contract they will pay it). I know of 4 people they have done this to this year alone. They are bullies who prey on people not knowing their rights or not having the cash to fight to get what is owed through lawyers. I have never seen such high turnover of staff! Main reason people leave is because of the toxic environment the management team encourage. The offices are driven by KPIs and people no matter what your level of experience are micromanaged and made to feel inadequate. Worst company I have ever worked for. Look elsewhere for employment. These guys really are bottom of the pile for employers. You will do much better at another employment agency.

Pros

Not much. Immediate people you work in your team with are great.

Cons

Some of the best/most successful people who made Hays what it was have left the company because it’s changed for the worse. What was once a revolving door of staff is now an exodus, with no new staff coming in to replace those who have left. People are now highly overworked and ridiculously underpaid. People are promised Visa sponsorship only to have it ripped away from them in dying moments. People miss out on highly deserved promotions because they only hit 95% of their KPIs and not 100%, and sometimes regardless of the fees they bring in. Flexible working arrangements next to non-existent. You only get the ‘privilege’ of working from home one day a week only if you meet your KPIs AND then one other day per week if you bring in a minimum amount of $$ every month, regardless of the state of the job market/your desk, your location/commute, illness, or other circumstances outside of work. Little to no work-life balance. Base salary is way below market average, and you’re expected to do overtime to meet your stats without any form of compensation. Adverse affect on mental health, the place has become unbelievably toxic. Your best is never enough. National board and managers are so out of touch it’s laughable. I don’t blame team managers or directors entirely, they’re only doing what they’re told from the higher ups and are being forced to crack the whip. But have some guts and let them have it, because things ain’t right.

Pros

Most colleagues are well-educated and friendly.

Cons

They give you a small piece of market, and they do not know if it will succeed or fail. If you succeed, they say its the strong brand name, and strong training. If you fail, they say its your fault. They ask me to go into a tunnel that no one else ventured out before, and if I can't find my way out, I somehow become the bad person and convincing me everyday to leave the company. People told me that in Hays, they fire people on a weekly basis. New employees always tell me that they are shocked at how often Hays fires people. Then they tell everyone else "that person is just now cut out for this". Lots of trials and errors in hiring employees and I feel absolutely sorry for people who took a big opportunity cost to move into Hays. Biggest liars in town.
