Great training package on offer throughout tenure. Equal opportunity for race and gender. Regular appraisals and communication with line manager.

Cons

Amongst the worst pay in the industry. Unattainable targets Favouritism The company has so many procedures in place that it makes its consultants lives more difficult.

Appreciate you taking time to complete your review however I do have to say, as someone who has a career spanning over 10 years at Hays, I disagree with your comment relating to Hays not being a place for someone seeking a career. The targets set to support future success and promotion are tough but not unobtainable and I speak from personal experience in that I have enjoyed seven promotions in my Hays career. I have not witnessed favouritism at Hays - what I have witnessed is a meritocratic culture in which success is cerebrated not only through incentives and uncapped commission but through promotion too. Mediocrity is not accepted here which can put some people under significant pressure. Understanding the pressure that comes with the role, we offer first class training programmes which provide you with every tool/resource you need to become a recruiting expert at Hays however driving your career is very much your responsibility. Yes we have procedures in place - being the size we are, we need to have strict processes and policies in place to support and protect not only our business but our candidates, clients and our employees too. I appreciate your career with Hays was not how your envisaged it would be however I do hope you find the right job which leads to a prosperous career long term. All the best.

Pros

Good training for new starters

Cons

Everyone ultimately a number. Very short term outlook. KPIs suffocate entrepreneurial spirit. The business prefers employees to "do as they are told" and not to have their own views. Great employer for consultants with no experience or consultants wanting to be told what to do every hour. Move consultants around too much, not allowing them to dominate their market as individuals.

You and I have been at Hays for the same amount of time and at the same level yet your experience is so vastly different to mine and I question if we do have a short term outlook considering our longevity with Hays. After 10 years of being at Hays you would be very aware that we do promote based on merit, not politics and as a Director yourself (one of our highest operational levels), I dare say your promotions were based on your hard work and not your ability to be political. Regardless, you are very much entitled to your opinion and after 10 years with Hays we wish you the best with your future career.

Pros

Can't think of one good thing.

Cons

Inexperienced staff that practices seagull management. The only time you see the contract agent is to fire someone.

Hi. Can I please clarify what you mean by 'contract agent'? We have no such job title in our global business so I am unable to action your comments until I understand further.
