Pros

- The people: You become friends with them, enjoy working with them, talking with them, and they really make the job bearable - Paid sick days are no longer counted against you as long as you're not abusing it, but more people are taking "sick" days now because work is just stressful and overwhelming and sometimes you need to have a day to yourself; so this can be a pro and con - The office tries to boost morale with quarterly catered lunches, raffles, potlucks, and an occasional event outside of work - We do get a bonus once a year

Cons

- understaffed so work becomes overwhelming - office morale is low and tensions are high - no one cares anymore, people just do the bare minimum and leave right when work is over, there is no more dedication or hard work - there is a high turnover rate in this industry, but with Hapag Lloyd they are understaffed but HQ will not approve more employees because they don't think it is necessary - I don't think HQ or level 1-3 management has any idea how bad office morale is or how stressful and overwhelming work is - after the merger with UASC the new way with HLAG was horrible, the process and structure was terrible and the way they run their ops is inefficient.

Pros

Hapag-Lloyd is a very good brand name.. But Hapag-Lloyd Global services run by Indian mgmt is completely different.. work culture is horrible .. It is a typical BPO.. Supervisor keeps shouting at you.. Nothing is organised here... Your bosses treat you like a slave.. they never behave in a friendly approach. They have a cafeteria which accomodates only 10 people.. how come people have a lunch in that confined space.. They don't have tea, green tea bags.. these are complimentary things which will be provided by almost every company. Even they don't have proper water dispenser...this clearly shows they are not caring for employees.. cab is provided only to night shift and early morning shift that too Non-AC cabs and if u stay within 15Kms from office.. They look people who are not good in communication with below average technical knowledge because well stuffed people looking for High salary which they can't afford.. Salary is below the market standards.. they are yet to transit into digital way when the whole world have already made it.. Their transition is very very slow.. lagging by 20 years back... Yearly hike is very very low. Even for 4% they proudly say this is the best in the market and higher than the competitors....HR team is for name sake.. they never take any periodic survey which would benefit employees.. they try to reduce the budget by cost cutting many things.. when you put down the papers they brainwash you to revoke by giving false promises like promotion, good hike, etc.. some people seriously took that promises and declined offers and continue to stay there. Neither promotion nor good hikes were given to them.. They were trapped.. They usually take 60+ days for your final settlement and experience certificate. You need to follow HR team to get this done in atleast 60 days.

Cons

1.Infrastructure - it is like an old company.. not modernized. Recently they renovated and self claimed as modernized.. but in reality it is still posing as late 90s companies. 2. Employee benefits - No stocks, no gym, no free food, no day care, no tuition assistance. They have insurance policy for different grades.. other than TLs, Managers, Directors they provide insurance cover of 1.5 lakhs ( self , partner, 2 kids).. parents are not included.. they show disparity among employees.. life is common to everyone. Don't rate among levels.. 3. Leave policy - you are not supposed to take leaves in Friday and Monday. If u take, Saturday and Sunday will be counted as leaves and deducted from ur leave balance.. 4. I hope no company will ask sign in the Full settlement receipt copy from the employee prior to settling the final and full settlement.. but they do that.. 5. People who are close to mgmt and not asking any questions will be promoted early.. People who always praise mgmt that they are the best mgmt in the world will also be promoted. 6. They recruited some people from outside for different skill sets. They joined and resigned within 1-2 years 7. Many candidates accept the offer and never join here.. even they are struggling for last 2 years to recruit candidates for Data analytics which is hot space in today's market.. how come candidates join if they provide 5 to 8 lakhs per annum.. An entry level data analysts can easily get 15+ lakhs in many companies.. how come he/she joins here with mediocre Salary 8. Three Months notice period which is too long Bottom line: Never ever join Hapag-Lloyd Global services if you are strong in technology and communication

Something to be ashamed of

Pros

Benefits relative to other competitors are phenomenal (401k is basically 6% emp + 9% HL, insurance is very very reasonable), work is easy, knowledgeable and experienced work force that is eager to educate for those who ask questions. Family friendly company with competent leadership. You won't get rich here, but pay is slightly better than industry average. Decent bonuses depending on global performance.

Cons

A few department managers that are disrespectful and short sighted (but let's be honest you'll find at least one at every company), but they're generally the exception. Advancement is difficult in the SSL industry so don't expect to rise quickly. But the most notable con -- The latest UASC merger was handled incredibly dishonestly when it came to staff retention. Area employees were told that some functions were being relocated and that they'd have an opportunity to stay aboard via interviews with other departments, but that unless they were willing to move there would be some severances. During this process they were told that current temps would not be given priority over current full time staff. They were also told that they would have multiple opportunities to interview as new positions arose, and would be given priority over outside hires. Not only was the process disorganized and haphazard, but both temps and outside hires were given jobs over qualified and tenured staff, contrary to what was disseminated through HR and management. The lack of honesty and lack of dignity shown to those being let go was appalling and disgraceful for an otherwise transparent and well run company. It left a bad taste in everyone's mouth and will not be forgotten when receiving future corporate communications. I wouldn't -not- recommend the company, but be aware that they will not always deal with you honestly.
