Pros

Always busy, never a boring day. Friendly attitude through all levels of the company.

Cons

Too high expectations. Country management constantly expecting you to run the store on less then skeleton staff. Store team are at breaking point. There’s a lot of mental health problem, stress anxiety and depression as a result.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We appreciate you being straightforward about your experience at H&M. As you know, this is one of our values and this supports our future development and growth. We are happy to hear that after more than 8 years in the company you are excited by your work and that there is never a boring day. We are also happy that you are mentioning our great “we are one team” spirit and the great friendly yet committed colleagues that we have. We are sorry to hear that the pressure you or your colleagues have been experiencing in store may have affected your wellbeing. We encourage an open-door policy where every employee should feel they can approach management to gain support in whatever challenges they are faced with, work related or other. We know that our fast-paced environment can sometimes be intense and the hours in store can sometimes feel limited to achieve our common goals. We continuously monitor the business needs as well as the impact on our teams to ensure a good balance for both… But we are taking your feedback on board and will pass this on to your area team. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share this with us.

Thanks for leaving a review with us. We are happy you value our fantastic treat of 25% off across all our brands. We're glad H&M is a place you can use your entrepreneurial spirit, develop yourself and progress… We truly believe that when you grow, we grow. We do know that our fast-paced environment can sometimes be intense and the resources in store can sometimes feel challenging to achieve our common goals. We are sorry that you feel you have experienced some favoritism in your store. We believe in fairness, equality and transparency for all our employees; we encourage our teams to discuss openly any problem they may have with their managers and see how they can best support them, in line with our values and global leadership expectations. Thanks again for sharing your experience at H&M and thoughts on where we can improve.

Pros

Friendly staff Good progression Discount

Cons

The tension when some members of area team arrive in store can be intense. They are not there day in, day out and don't see how hard things are in current climate with lack of staff hours/ extremely high work load/ more demanding customers. Their feedback can be rude and intimidating and no answer as to why things aren't done 100% is good enough. Shops working with minimum staff still being told to cut hours, forcing people to take holidays but also leaving way too much for the other staff to carry. Definitely an air of favoritism when it comes to higher positions, more about who you know not what you know. Wages are far too low for the work load of Visuals, they pretty much run the shop on less money then the other managers when the other managers can get away with doing very little in some stores. No paid over time and no bonus, or even a thank you most days. Work life balance is not really a thing, long days, long travel and over time all add up to feeling burnt out and demotivated. You can be moved store with no real choice in the matter, saying no is not made feel like an option.
