Pros

- Flexible - I was always able to make myself unavailable on the schedule when needed

Cons

- I was told at hiring that everyone is employed on a part time basis and there will be opportunities for full time after a short period. This "short period" turned out to be never (for me) or 3+ years for my colleagues. This means they don't have to offer you benefits. - Inconsistent scheduling - some weeks I was scheduled for 35 hours, others I was scheduled for 12. - Unfair pay rise system - you are expected to ask every customer to round up and if you don't hit a certain level of successful round ups (started at 20% and is now up to 30%) they use it as a reason to withhold a pay rise. - Poor management leading to poor staffing ratios. The floor staff are frequently understaffed whilst they continue to hire more and more pricers. They expect the few remaining floor staff to haul the carts and racks at double speed to make up for the fact they won't replace the staff members who keep quitting. Management will not help put away merchandise. They prefer to remain away from customer facing areas. I saw them snacking (on the snacks meant for staff facing hardship but not actually made accessible to any of us) more than I saw them speaking to customers or helping floor staff. One of the managers frequently stank of pot so I assume he had the munchies. - Management absolutely do not care about employees. The store manager didn't care at all and the managers above him cared even less. All the company cares about is turning a profit and ensuring staff get the minimum reward possible for their work. - Having to deal with a lot of upset/frustrated customers after Goodwill discontinued all of the discount incentives and continued to raise prices. The company definitely seems to care more about profit than their customers (despite claiming to be a non profit)
