Pros
One of the biggest perks for me was the beautiful campus and state of the art facility, in Uptown; fit with fountains, a fire pit sitting area, 100% secure access 24hrs, coffee cafe and full cafeteria featuring Omni Hotel quality cuisine, full gym & lockerrooms on site. U can even send off your dry cleaning. You definitely reap the benefits of 5 star hotel quality working for a company privately owned by billionare Bob Rowling. Did I mention he offices there? Golds Gym is a 50 year old brand staple in America. They have fitness figured out, for sure. The club culture is one of working harder to achieve the best results for the healthiest life. They truly take the success of the members to heart where fitness is concerned. It feels good to work in an industry geared toward helping others.
Cons
Despite the beautiful surroundings, there certainly an air of 'snobbishness'. One could say the demographics of Bob's other companies that share the office space isn't exactly colorful. You definitely get the sense that image is critical to your survival unless you make yourself scarce. (Sadly, this is just for being in the same building as Republican Royalty and has nothing to do with which company you work for or your role within.) While Gold's definitely focuses most of its attention on the 'member experience' and the club staff who deliver this 'experience'; as a corporate employee, you are subjected to rigorous financial goals, deadlines, limited resources and outdated tools while being constantly reminded that while, yes, do you work hard, never see your family are constantly abused by the people you support (field staff), its only they who matter because they're the ones changing lives. (Last I checked, a body stops working when the heart fails.) The desire to plump up the bottom line amidst rapid expansion via acquisitions and new construction while maintaining an edge in the super competitive market without investing in additional manpower and tool upgrades has, in my opinion, crippled the supporting infrastructure resulting in damn near criminal workloads, horrible work life balance and employee morale which bleeds down into field resulting in a vicious cycle of ' You show improvement, we'll invest in more resources. Yet you need the resources to improve.' Its a hamster wheel and completely defeating. Its not worth the job security company growth seems to provide. Under normal circumstances, the pay & benefits would be fair to the market; however, given the extreme workloads, hours and stress, it's nowhere near comparable for the expectations.
