Pros

Independence, schedule, work hours, deadlines.. all depend on your PhD advisor. Good advisor --> Great experience

Cons

I have met many PhD students in toxic labs. Life can be miserable if the lab culture is toxic.

Pros

Georgia tech is a prestigious institution with very good professors. Getting a degree there can open doors for your career.

Cons

Being a PhD student is not simply doing research but you will be in the mix of a lot of academic politics. Just make sure you select your advisor wisely, it can be the difference between succeeding and dropping out like I did.
